Qualification Turns to Florida for Women, Maryland for Men

An automatic bid to Women’s Division I Club is on the line at the Florida Collegiate Conference 7s Saturday at Florida State in Tallahassee, FL. The host Seminoles face off against North Carolina, Clemson, and South Florida. Only Clemson has been to the CRC before.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Premier Cup qualifier series heads to stop No. 4 Saturday in the Terrapins 7s in College Park, MD. Wheeling emerged as a No. 1 seed after winning this tournament last spring, and the Cardinals will again be a favorite in Pool A, alongside Clemson, Delaware and St. Mary’s of Maryland.

Pool B sees 15s national champion Notre Dame College paired with Rugby East rival Mary Washington, James Madison and Nazareth. St. Bonaventure is the top seed in Pool C, followed by Fordham, Maryland and Frostburg State. Kutztown, which fell in the semifinals of the Frostbite qualifier in Lancaster, PA last week, is tops in Pool D, along with Siena, West Chester and Buffalo.

In Rolla, MO, Missouri Science & Technology is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day Tournament, featuring eight men’s and women’s teams, all working to build a resume for selection to the CRC across multiple divisions.

The women’s division will also feature Duluth, Mizzou and the Miners, as well as Central Missouri, Colorado School of Mines, Arkansas, Southern Illinois.
