Collegiate Rugby Championship Raises Funds for Olympic 7s Teams

On behalf of CRC ticket holders, National Collegiate Rugby will make a $1,000 donation to the men’s and women’s Olympic 7s teams for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As part of their CRC ticket purchase, fans were given an opportunity to make a donation to the men’s and women’s national teams as they prepare to compete this summer.

The donation, to be split evenly between the men’s and women’s teams, will be made to the Golden Eagles foundation. The Golden Eagles are a non-profit organization that provides financial support to sevens programs and players to cover the costs to compete on the HSBC SVNS Circuit, Rugby World Cup Sevens, and Olympic teams.

Rugby Sevens has been part of the Olympic games since October 2009 when the International Olympic Committee voted to introduce the sevens version of rugby at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and it has been part of the men’s and women’s program ever since. Both the USA men’s and USA women’s teams qualified for the Paris Olympics during the 2023 international sevens season.

“We thank our fans for contributing to the USA’s Olympic 7s campaign. Several Olympians have played at the CRC, and we’re excited to support the USA's drive for gold medals in Paris” stated Wade Smith, NCR’s Chief Operating Officer.
