Seahawks Sink Bobcats for DII Supremacy

The University of North Carolina Wilmington won the Division II Men’s national championship Saturday at the Maryland Soccerplex Sunday, defeating Montana State 24-12 in the final. The win delivers the Seahawks the first national title in program history.

To boot, the win is a fantastic father-son story, as the finals MVP was Marshall Wiseman, son of head coach Jim Wiseman. Marshall dotted down twice against the Bobcats in the final.

Wilmington advanced to the final with a grinding 12-0 defensive semifinal performance against the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa. The Bobcats prevented an all-Carolina final with a one-try win over Coastal Carolina.

No. 1 seed IUP rebounded from a second-round loss to claim the Plate title, besting Norwich 26-12. Vermont took the Bowl, besting Memphis 28-7. Towson took the Shield, defeating crosstown rival Towson, 19-5.
