Only Gold for the Gulls

Endicott claimed its fourth national title in four years Sunday, winning Women’s Division III at the Collegiate Rugby Championship. It was all Gulls in the final, as they defeated Baldwin-Wallace, 32-0, at the Maryland Soccerplex in Boyds, MD.

Laryssa Landmesser was awarded the MVP for her playmaking and hard-charging runs, leading the Gulls in tries on the weekend with six.

Colorado School of Mines nearly unseated the champs, falling 22-21 in the quarterfinals. The Orediggers bounced back with consecutive wins over Niagara and UW-Platteville to claim the Plate.

Gannon opened their weekend with a pair of losses Saturday, but won three-straight Sunday to win some hardware. The Golden Knights knocked off Yale in the Bowl final, 22-17.

Middlebury also takes home a trophy, claiming the Shield final. The Panthers bested Western Oregon in the semifinals, 24-17, and Letourneau in the final, 30-10.

The Panthers’ Johanna Hayes, Gannon’s Lexi Hulick, and UW-Platteville’s Taylor Brink tied for the try lead with seven each.
