For the second year in a row, Brown and Army met in the final of the Women’s Premier Cup, with Brown emerging as national champions. The Bears defeated the Black Knights 12-5, with Kate Muldoon earning the tournament MVP, scoring four tries on the weekend.
Kate Muldoon made the first half break of the final, offloading to a streaking Akilah Cathey at full pace. Army couldn’t bring her down, putting the Bears up early. Morgan Cunningham made it 12-0 at halftime, sprinting 95 meters up the sideline off a scrum deep in Brown’s own end.
Army played stout defense in the second half, pinning Brown in their own end for much of it. The Black Knights narrowed the deficit with 90 seconds to play, scoring from a point-blank scrum right in the corner, but Brown melted the clock to take the win.
The win sees Brown head coach Ros Chou tie the record for the most Women’s titles in CRC history, and it marks her second set of back-to-back championships, having won two with Life University in 2016 and 2017.
The Premier Cup division started its second day of competition with an early, standout performance by Amanee Saucier and the New Haven Chargers. Saucier touched down for a hat trick against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, leading her team to a 29-5 victory. Other hat trick scorers from Sunday include Telesi Uhatafe (Southern Nazarene) and Lauryn Eisenhart (Notre Dame College).
The Bowl Championship (for 9th Place) was a physical showdown between Southern Nazarene and Mount St. Mary’s. MSM powerhouse runner Monet Hubbard met her match in Telesi Uhatafe– Division top scorer and 2024 All-Star tournament MVP– with the Mountaineers falling 7-19 against the Crimson Storm. Earlier in the day, Hubbard led her team to a nail-biting victory against Northeastern with an interception pick five.
